Xenoglim-MP2 Tablet SR is a combination oral hypoglycemic agent formulated with Glimepiride (2mg), Metformin (500mg), and Pioglitazone (15mg) designed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to increase insulin secretion, thereby reducing blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, enhancing glucose uptake by muscle cells. Pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione, acts as an insulin sensitizer by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ), improving insulin sensitivity in adipose tissue, muscle, and the liver. The sustained-release (SR) formulation ensures a gradual release of active ingredients, promoting better glycemic control with reduced dosing frequency and minimizing gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with Metformin.
