Weteye Gel contains Carboxymethylcellulose 1% w/v, a viscous, water-soluble polymer used as an ocular lubricant to relieve symptoms associated with dry eye syndrome and other conditions causing ocular surface irritation. This gel formulation provides prolonged hydration and protection by forming a protective film over the corneal and conjunctival epithelium, thereby reducing friction during blinking and promoting ocular surface healing. Weteye Gel is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of dry, irritated eyes caused by environmental factors, contact lens wear, or postoperative dryness following ocular surgery. The gel’s mucoadhesive properties enhance retention time on the ocular surface compared to conventional eye drops, offering sustained relief from discomfort, burning, and foreign body sensation. It is preservative-free, minimizing the risk of preservative-related toxicity or hypersensitivity reactions, making it suitable for frequent use and for patients with sensitive eyes. Administration involves instilling one or two drops into the affected eye(s) as needed, with dosage adjusted based on symptom severity. Weteye Gel is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Carboxymethylcellulose or any component of the formulation. As with all ocular lubricants, care should be taken to avoid contamination of the applicator tip to prevent infection.
