Wavtel 20 Tablet contains Telmisartan 20 mg, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist primarily used in the management of hypertension. By selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, Telmisartan promotes vasodilation, thereby reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure. This mechanism helps to prevent complications associated with high blood pressure, such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal impairment. Wavtel 20 is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and may also be prescribed to reduce cardiovascular risk in patients with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease or type 2 diabetes mellitus with target organ damage.
