Osbitel AM Tablet contains a combination of Telmisartan 40 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg, indicated for the management of hypertension. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which leads to vasodilation and reduction in blood pressure. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in peripheral arterial vasodilation and decreased systemic vascular resistance. The combined action of Telmisartan and Amlodipine provides an effective antihypertensive effect by targeting different mechanisms involved in blood pressure regulation. Osbitel AM is indicated for patients who require multiple antihypertensive agents to achieve optimal blood pressure control. It is particularly useful in patients who have not achieved adequate response with monotherapy. The combination therapy improves compliance by reducing pill burden. Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, peripheral edema, and fatigue. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component, severe hepatic impairment, or pregnancy.
