Oritel-CH 40 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, resulting in vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that promotes the excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, which decreases plasma volume and reduces peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides effective and sustained blood pressure control in patients with hypertension. Oritel-CH 40 is indicated for the management of essential hypertension, either as initial therapy or in patients inadequately controlled with monotherapy. This combination may also reduce the risk of cardiovascular events associated with hypertension. The medication should be used under medical supervision, with regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes due to the potential risk of hyperkalemia, hypotension, and electrolyte imbalances.
