Orantiva-M Tablet is a combination pharmaceutical formulation containing Drotaverine hydrochloride 80 mg and Mefenamic acid 250 mg, indicated for the management of smooth muscle spasms and associated pain. Drotaverine, an antispasmodic agent, acts by inhibiting phosphodiesterase-IV enzyme, leading to increased intracellular cyclic AMP levels and resultant relaxation of smooth muscles, thereby alleviating spasmodic pain. Mefenamic acid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), exerts analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis responsible for pain and inflammation. This combination is particularly effective in treating conditions such as dysmenorrhea, renal colic, biliary colic, and other smooth muscle-related spasmodic disorders accompanied by pain and inflammation.
