Ondapil MD Tablet contains Ondansetron 4mg, a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used primarily for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and postoperative recovery. Ondansetron works by blocking serotonin receptors located centrally in the chemoreceptor trigger zone and peripherally on vagal nerve terminals in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby inhibiting the emetic signal transmission. This medication is indicated for patients undergoing cancer treatment who are at risk of severe emesis, as well as for individuals experiencing nausea and vomiting following surgical procedures. Ondapil MD is administered orally, with dosing tailored according to the severity of symptoms and patient-specific factors such as age and renal function. It is generally well-tolerated; common adverse effects may include headache, constipation, dizziness, and fatigue.
