Olvance-CT 20 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg and Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, resulting in vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion, thereby lowering blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that promotes diuresis by inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, leading to decreased plasma volume and peripheral vascular resistance. The combination of these two agents provides a complementary mechanism of action, enhancing antihypertensive efficacy while minimizing adverse effects associated with monotherapy. Olvance-CT 20 is indicated for the management of essential hypertension, either as initial therapy or in patients inadequately controlled with monotherapy.
