Olmin 20-H Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg and Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, promotes the excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, thereby reducing blood volume and lowering blood pressure. Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which leads to vasodilation and decreased peripheral resistance. The synergistic action of these two agents effectively manages hypertension, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. Olmin 20-H is indicated for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy. It is important to monitor renal function, electrolyte levels, and blood pressure regularly during treatment. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to any component, anuria, and severe renal impairment. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic dysfunction or gout.
