Olmetrack H Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg and Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg. It is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, providing effective blood pressure control by complementary mechanisms. Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which results in vasodilation and reduced blood volume. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, promotes diuresis by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule of the nephron, leading to decreased plasma volume and peripheral vascular resistance. The combination enhances antihypertensive efficacy compared to monotherapy, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal complications associated with hypertension. Olmetrack H Tablet is generally well tolerated; however, monitoring of electrolytes, renal function, and blood pressure is recommended during therapy. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to either component, anuria, and severe renal or hepatic impairment. Caution is advised in patients with gout, diabetes, or electrolyte imbalances.
