Olmetime-H 20 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which leads to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that promotes sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, contributing to decreased plasma volume and peripheral resistance. The combination of these two agents provides a complementary mechanism of action, enhancing antihypertensive efficacy in patients with essential hypertension who require more than monotherapy. Olmetime-H 20 is indicated for the management of hypertension to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. It is generally well tolerated; however, monitoring of electrolyte levels, renal function, and blood pressure is recommended during therapy. Common adverse effects may include dizziness, hypotension, hyperkalemia, or electrolyte imbalance. Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
