Olmesar H 40 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 40 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to vasodilation and reduction in blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that promotes the excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, contributing to decreased blood volume and pressure. This combination is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, particularly in patients who require more than one agent to achieve adequate blood pressure control. Olmesar H 40 Tablet effectively lowers elevated blood pressure, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. It is generally well tolerated; however, monitoring of electrolytes, renal function, and blood pressure is recommended during therapy. Use is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component, severe renal impairment, or anuria. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic dysfunction or gout.
