About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Melapik Plus Cream is a topical formulation containing Hydroquinone (2% w/w), Tretinoin (0.025% w/w), and Fluocinolone acetonide (0.01% w/w), indicated for the treatment of melasma and other hyperpigmentation disorders. Hydroquinone acts as a depigmenting agent by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase, thereby reducing melanin synthesis and promoting gradual lightening of hyperpigmented areas. Tretinoin, a retinoid, enhances epidermal turnover and facilitates the dispersion of melanin granules, improving the efficacy of hydroquinone and promoting skin renewal. Fluocinolone acetonide, a mild corticosteroid, helps to reduce inflammation and irritation commonly associated with the use of hydroquinone and tretinoin, thereby improving tolerability. Melapik Plus Cream should be applied once daily at night to the affected areas after cleansing, avoiding contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Patients are advised to use sunscreen and limit sun exposure during treatment to prevent exacerbation of pigmentation. The combination therapy offers a synergistic effect, providing effective management of hyperpigmentation with minimized adverse effects. Use is generally recommended under medical supervision due to potential side effects such as skin irritation, erythema, and, rarely, ochronosis. Discontinuation is advised if severe irritation occurs.
