Melanorm-HC Cream is a topical formulation combining Hydroquinone (2% w/w), Tretinoin (0.025% w/w), and Hydrocortisone (1% w/w) designed for the treatment of hyperpigmentation disorders such as melasma, freckles, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Hydroquinone acts as a skin-lightening agent by inhibiting tyrosinase, an enzyme critical in melanin synthesis, thereby reducing excessive pigmentation. Tretinoin, a retinoid, promotes epidermal cell turnover and enhances the penetration of hydroquinone, facilitating more effective pigment dispersion and skin renewal. Hydrocortisone, a mild corticosteroid, helps to mitigate inflammation and irritation commonly associated with hydroquinone and tretinoin use, improving patient tolerability. Melanorm-HC Cream should be applied once daily, preferably at night, to clean, dry skin on the affected areas.
