About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Maxtra-O Nasal Spray contains Oxymetazoline 0.05% w/v, a topical decongestant indicated for the relief of nasal congestion associated with conditions such as allergic rhinitis, common cold, sinusitis, and hay fever. Oxymetazoline acts as a selective alpha-adrenergic agonist, producing vasoconstriction of the nasal mucosal blood vessels, thereby reducing swelling and congestion. This mechanism facilitates improved nasal airflow and eases breathing. Maxtra-O Nasal Spray is intended for intranasal administration, with a recommended dosage of one to two sprays in each nostril every 10 to 12 hours, not exceeding two doses in a 24-hour period. Prolonged use beyond three consecutive days is not advised to prevent rebound congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa). Caution is warranted in patients with hypertension, cardiovascular disease, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, or prostatic hypertrophy, and consultation with a healthcare professional is recommended prior to use. Adverse effects may include nasal dryness, irritation, sneezing, or transient burning sensation. Maxtra-O Nasal Spray should not be used concurrently with monoamine oxidase inhibitors or within 14 days of their discontinuation. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Oxymetazoline or any formulation components. Proper use of Maxtra-O Nasal Spray provides rapid and effective symptomatic relief of nasal congestion.
