About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Maxizol Cream contains Oxiconazole 1% w/w, a broad-spectrum antifungal agent indicated for the treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin, including dermatophytosis, candidiasis, and pityriasis versicolor. Oxiconazole belongs to the imidazole class of antifungals and exerts its effect by inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. Maxizol Cream is suitable for topical application to affected areas, providing targeted antifungal activity with minimal systemic absorption. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and cutaneous candidiasis. The cream should be applied once or twice daily to the clean, dry affected area, with the duration of treatment typically ranging from 2 to 4 weeks depending on the severity and type of infection. Adverse effects are generally mild and may include local irritation, burning sensation, or erythema at the application site. Maxizol Cream is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to oxiconazole or any of the cream’s excipients. Caution is advised when used in pregnant or lactating women, and use in pediatric populations should be under medical supervision.
