Lincomycin, a lincosamide antibiotic, exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing peptide chain initiation. Lynx Suspension is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, and certain intra-abdominal infections where penicillin therapy is contraindicated or ineffective. The suspension formulation facilitates accurate dosing in pediatric and adult patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets. It is essential to complete the full prescribed course to prevent the development of resistant organisms. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Hypersensitivity reactions, including rash and anaphylaxis, though rare, require immediate medical attention.
