Lycetop 25 Tablet contains Topiramate 25 mg, an antiepileptic medication primarily indicated for the treatment of epilepsy and prevention of migraine headaches. Topiramate acts by stabilizing neuronal membranes and inhibiting repetitive firing of neurons through modulation of voltage-dependent sodium channels, enhancement of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) activity, and antagonism of excitatory glutamate receptors. Lycetop 25 is commonly prescribed as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy for partial onset seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome in adults and pediatric patients. Additionally, it is effective in reducing the frequency and severity of migraine attacks. The tablet is administered orally, with dosing individualized based on clinical response and tolerability. Common adverse effects include dizziness, fatigue, paresthesia, cognitive impairment, and weight loss; thus, patients should be monitored regularly. Caution is advised in patients with a history of kidney stones, metabolic acidosis, or glaucoma. Dose adjustments may be necessary in renal impairment.
