About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Lupisit D 5mg/50mg Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing dapagliflozin 5mg and sitagliptin 50mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, reduces renal glucose reabsorption, promoting glycosuria and thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances incretin hormone activity, increasing insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. The synergistic action of these agents improves glycemic control by targeting complementary pathophysiological mechanisms. Lupisit D is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic parameters in adults inadequately controlled on monotherapy or other antidiabetic agents. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or severe renal impairment. Caution is advised in individuals with a history of urinary tract infections or volume depletion. Common adverse effects include genital mycotic infections, nasopharyngitis, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Regular monitoring of renal function, blood glucose, and signs of adverse reactions is recommended during therapy. Lupisit D offers a convenient fixed-dose combination to optimize glycemic control and improve patient adherence in type 2 diabetes management.
