About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Lupisit D 10mg/100mg Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing dapagliflozin 10mg and sitagliptin 100mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, reduces renal glucose reabsorption, promoting urinary glucose excretion and thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances incretin hormone activity, increasing insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. The dual mechanism of action provides complementary glycemic control, improving both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels. Lupisit D is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults inadequately controlled on monotherapy or other antidiabetic agents. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal impairment, or known hypersensitivity to its components. Common adverse effects include urinary tract infections, nasopharyngitis, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Regular monitoring of renal function, blood glucose, and signs of volume depletion is recommended during therapy. Dose adjustments may be necessary in renal impairment. Lupisit D should be used cautiously in patients with a history of pancreatitis or cardiovascular disease.
