About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Luly XL 1% Cream contains luliconazole 1% w/w, a topical antifungal agent belonging to the imidazole class, indicated for the treatment of superficial dermatophytic infections such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and tinea pedis. Luliconazole exerts its antifungal effect by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, a key catalyst in the biosynthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. Disruption of ergosterol synthesis leads to increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. Luly XL 1% Cream is formulated for once-daily application, providing convenience and improved patient compliance. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in resolving fungal infections with a shorter duration of therapy compared to other topical antifungals. The cream is generally well tolerated, with adverse effects limited to mild local reactions such as erythema, itching, or burning sensation at the application site. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to luliconazole or any excipients in the formulation. Luly XL 1% Cream should be applied to the affected area and a margin of surrounding skin after cleansing and drying, typically for 1 to 2 weeks depending on the severity and type of infection. Patients are advised to avoid occlusive dressings and to maintain good hygiene to prevent reinfection.
