About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Lubrifresh Gel contains Carboxymethylcellulose 1% w/v as its active ingredient, a water-soluble cellulose derivative used primarily as a lubricant and artificial tear agent. It is indicated for the symptomatic relief of dry, irritated, or inflamed ocular surfaces caused by environmental factors, contact lens wear, or conditions such as keratoconjunctivitis sicca. The gel formulation provides prolonged ocular surface hydration by mimicking natural tears, thereby reducing discomfort, burning, and foreign body sensation. Lubrifresh Gel is preservative-free, minimizing the risk of hypersensitivity and irritation, making it suitable for frequent use and for patients with sensitive eyes. The gel’s viscosity allows for sustained retention on the corneal and conjunctival epithelium, enhancing its lubricating effect compared to standard aqueous solutions. It is administered topically as one or two drops in the affected eye(s) as needed, with dosage adjusted based on symptom severity. Caution is advised in patients with known hypersensitivity to Carboxymethylcellulose or any excipients. Lubrifresh Gel does not interfere with contact lens wear; however, lenses should be removed prior to application and may be reinserted 15 minutes after instillation. This product is intended for external ocular use only and should be stored at controlled room temperature.
