Lowpress-H Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Losartan 50 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, indicated for the treatment of hypertension. Losartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, works by blocking the vasoconstrictive effects of angiotensin II, thereby promoting vasodilation and reducing blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, facilitates the excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, contributing to decreased blood volume and peripheral resistance. The synergistic action of these two agents provides effective blood pressure control, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. Lowpress-H is particularly useful in patients who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy. It is generally well tolerated; however, monitoring of electrolytes, renal function, and blood pressure is recommended during treatment to detect potential adverse effects such as hyperkalemia, hypotension, or electrolyte imbalances. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to any component, anuria, and severe renal or hepatic impairment. Lowpress-H Tablet should be administered once daily, with dosage adjustments based on clinical response and tolerability.
