About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Locula 10% Eye Drop contains Sulphacetamide 10% w/v, a sulfonamide antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye. Sulphacetamide exhibits bacteriostatic activity by inhibiting the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid in susceptible bacteria, thereby preventing bacterial growth and proliferation. This ophthalmic solution is primarily used in the management of conjunctivitis, keratitis, and other superficial ocular infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria. Locula 10% Eye Drop is suitable for adults and pediatric patients, administered topically to the affected eye(s) as directed by a healthcare professional. Prior to application, the eye should be gently cleaned if necessary. The usual dosage involves instilling one or two drops into the conjunctival sac every two to three hours initially, with the frequency reduced as the infection improves. Patients should avoid contaminating the dropper tip to prevent secondary infections. Common adverse reactions may include mild burning or stinging upon instillation, transient blurred vision, or local irritation. Use is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to sulfonamides or any component of the formulation. Caution is advised in patients with pre-existing ocular conditions. Locula 10% Eye Drop should be stored at room temperature, protected from light, and kept out of reach of children.
