Lockstat ASP Capsule is a combination medication containing Rosuvastatin 10 mg and Aspirin 75 mg, indicated for the management of cardiovascular risk in patients with hyperlipidemia and a history of or risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Rosuvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, effectively lowers low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), total cholesterol, and triglycerides while modestly increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), thereby reducing the progression of atherosclerosis. Aspirin, an antiplatelet agent, irreversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), leading to decreased thromboxane A2 production and platelet aggregation, which reduces the risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction and stroke. The combined formulation provides synergistic benefits by addressing both lipid abnormalities and platelet aggregation, crucial factors in cardiovascular disease prevention. Lockstat ASP is typically prescribed for secondary prevention in patients with established coronary artery disease, stroke, or peripheral arterial disease, and may be considered in select high-risk primary prevention cases.
