About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Lipikind-F Tablet is a combination medication containing Atorvastatin 10 mg and Fenofibrate 160 mg, indicated for the management of dyslipidemia and mixed hyperlipidemia. Atorvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, effectively reduces low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and total cholesterol levels by inhibiting cholesterol synthesis in the liver. Fenofibrate, a fibric acid derivative, primarily lowers triglycerides and increases high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), which enhances lipid metabolism. The synergistic action of these agents provides comprehensive lipid control, particularly in patients with elevated LDL-C, triglycerides, and low HDL-C levels, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular events. Lipikind-F is indicated for patients who require both LDL-C and triglyceride reduction and have not achieved target lipid levels with monotherapy. It should be used adjunctively with diet and lifestyle modifications such as exercise and weight control. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and regular monitoring of liver enzymes and creatine kinase is recommended to detect potential adverse effects such as hepatotoxicity or myopathy. Lipikind-F is contraindicated in pregnancy, breastfeeding, and in patients with active liver disease.
