LIPICURE 60 Tablet contains Atorvastatin 60 mg, a potent lipid-lowering agent belonging to the statin class. It is primarily indicated for the management of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia to reduce elevated total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), apolipoprotein B, and triglycerides, while increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Atorvastatin exerts its effect by selectively inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme responsible for the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, a crucial early step in cholesterol biosynthesis. This inhibition leads to increased expression of LDL receptors on hepatocyte surfaces, enhancing clearance of LDL particles from the bloodstream.
