About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Lipi EZ 40 Tablet is a combination lipid-lowering medication containing Atorvastatin 40 mg and Ezetimibe 10 mg, indicated for the management of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Atorvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, reduces cholesterol synthesis in the liver, leading to decreased levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and total cholesterol, while modestly increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Ezetimibe acts by selectively inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol at the intestinal brush border, thereby reducing the delivery of intestinal cholesterol to the liver. The synergistic action of these agents results in a significant reduction in LDL-C levels beyond what can be achieved with either agent alone. Lipi EZ 40 is indicated for patients who require additional LDL-C lowering despite diet modification and monotherapy or those intolerant to high-dose statins. It is also used in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia as adjunct therapy. The tablet should be administered once daily, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Regular monitoring of lipid profiles, liver function tests, and creatine kinase is recommended to assess efficacy and detect potential adverse effects. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment, and it is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
