Linapride M 1000mg/5mg Tablet XR is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Metformin hydrochloride 1000 mg and Linagliptin 5 mg in an extended-release formulation. It is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in patients who require improved glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are insufficient. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production, enhancing peripheral glucose uptake, and improving insulin sensitivity. Linagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, increases endogenous incretin levels, thereby promoting glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppressing glucagon release.
