Leptomate 100 Tablet contains Topiramate 100 mg, an anticonvulsant medication primarily indicated for the treatment of epilepsy and prevention of migraine headaches. Topiramate acts by stabilizing neuronal membranes and enhancing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) activity, thereby reducing the frequency and severity of seizures. It is effective in managing partial-onset seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Additionally, Topiramate is utilized as a prophylactic agent for migraine, helping to decrease the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks. Leptomate 100 should be administered under medical supervision, with dosage individualized based on patient response and tolerability. Common adverse effects include dizziness, fatigue, cognitive disturbances such as difficulty concentrating, weight loss, and paresthesia. Caution is advised in patients with a history of kidney stones, metabolic acidosis, or glaucoma, as Topiramate may exacerbate these conditions. Regular monitoring of renal function and serum bicarbonate levels is recommended during therapy. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided to prevent seizure exacerbation.
