Insulin Glargine provides a steady and prolonged glucose-lowering effect, mimicking the natural basal insulin secretion, thereby helping to maintain stable blood glucose levels over a 24-hour period with once-daily administration. It is indicated for patients requiring continuous basal insulin to improve glycemic control in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Lantus Solostar is administered subcutaneously and should not be used intravenously. The solution is clear, colorless, and free from visible particles, supplied in a prefilled pen device designed for ease of use and accurate dosing. Dose adjustments should be individualized based on blood glucose monitoring results, dietary intake, physical activity, and concomitant medications. Hypoglycemia is the most common adverse effect and patients should be educated on its recognition and management.
