Lamifin Tablet contains Terbinafine 250mg, an antifungal agent indicated for the treatment of various fungal infections. Terbinafine belongs to the allylamine class and exerts its effect by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, a key component in fungal cell membrane synthesis, leading to fungal cell death. Lamifin is primarily prescribed for dermatophytic infections such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and onychomycosis caused by susceptible strains of dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds. The tablet is administered orally, with the dosage and duration dependent on the type and severity of infection, typically ranging from 250 mg once daily for 2 to 6 weeks. Lamifin is generally well-tolerated; however, patients should be monitored for potential adverse effects including gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, rash, and, rarely, hepatotoxicity. Liver function tests are recommended prior to and during prolonged therapy. Caution is advised in patients with pre-existing liver or kidney impairment. Lamifin should be used under medical supervision, and patients are advised to complete the full course of therapy to prevent recurrence and resistance.
