Lamifin Cream contains Terbinafine 1% w/w, an antifungal agent indicated for the topical treatment of dermatophytic infections such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and tinea pedis, as well as candidal infections of the skin. Terbinafine exerts its antifungal effect by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, leading to a deficiency of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting cell membrane synthesis and causing fungal cell death. Lamifin Cream is applied once or twice daily to the affected area, typically for a duration of 1 to 4 weeks depending on the severity and type of infection. It is well tolerated with minimal systemic absorption, reducing the risk of systemic side effects. Common adverse reactions may include local irritation, burning, itching, or redness at the application site. Lamifin Cream should be used with caution in patients with known hypersensitivity to terbinafine or any of the cream’s excipients. It is contraindicated in mucosal fungal infections and should not be applied to open wounds or broken skin.
