Ktel-AM Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg, formulated to manage essential hypertension effectively. Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which leads to decreased blood pressure. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, promoting vasodilation and reducing peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic action of these two agents provides enhanced blood pressure control compared to monotherapy, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal complications associated with hypertension.
