Ketoconazole, an imidazole derivative, exerts its antifungal activity by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and cell death. Konaz Solution is indicated for the topical treatment of fungal infections such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, seborrheic dermatitis, and pityriasis versicolor. It is particularly useful in managing infections caused by Candida species and Malassezia furfur. The solution formulation allows for easy application to affected areas, promoting rapid absorption and effective local action. Konaz Solution should be applied once or twice daily to clean, dry skin, with the duration of treatment typically ranging from 2 to 4 weeks depending on the severity and type of infection. Adverse effects are generally mild and may include local irritation, burning sensation, or itching at the application site.
