Ketox Cream contains Ketoconazole 2% w/w, an imidazole antifungal agent effective against a broad spectrum of dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds. It is primarily indicated for the topical treatment of superficial fungal infections such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and pityriasis versicolor. Ketoconazole exerts its antifungal activity by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. Ketox Cream is applied once or twice daily to the affected area and surrounding skin after cleansing and drying, typically for a duration of 2 to 4 weeks depending on the severity and type of infection. It is well tolerated with minimal systemic absorption when used topically. Common adverse effects may include mild local irritation, burning sensation, or erythema at the application site. Ketox Cream should be used with caution in patients with known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole or any of the cream’s excipients. It is not recommended for use on mucous membranes or for systemic fungal infections. As with all antifungal treatments, adherence to the full course of therapy is essential to prevent recurrence and resistance development.
