Ketonext Cream contains Ketoconazole 2% w/w, an imidazole antifungal agent effective in the treatment of various superficial fungal infections. Ketoconazole acts by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a critical component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. This topical formulation is indicated for the management of dermatophytosis, candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor, and seborrheic dermatitis. Ketonext Cream is applied once or twice daily to the affected area after cleansing and drying the skin, with treatment duration varying according to the type and severity of infection, typically ranging from 2 to 4 weeks. The cream is well tolerated, with adverse effects being rare and generally limited to mild local irritation, burning sensation, or erythema at the application site. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole or any component of the formulation. Caution is advised to avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Ketonext Cream should be used under medical supervision, and patients are advised to complete the full course of therapy to prevent recurrence. It is not recommended for systemic fungal infections or use in pediatric patients without medical guidance.
