Jolltrim 400mg/80mg Injection is a combination antimicrobial agent containing Sulfamethoxazole 400mg and Trimethoprim 80mg, formulated for intravenous administration. This synergistic combination exerts a broad-spectrum antibacterial effect by sequentially inhibiting bacterial folic acid synthesis, with Sulfamethoxazole acting as a competitive antagonist of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and Trimethoprim inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase. Jolltrim is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain types of systemic infections caused by susceptible strains. The injectable form is particularly useful in patients who are unable to take oral medication or require rapid therapeutic levels. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity of infection, patient condition, and renal function.
