About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Jarbis 25 Tablet contains Empagliflozin 25 mg, a selective sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. By inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, Empagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption and increases urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. Jarbis 25 is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, and body weight, with additional benefits on blood pressure reduction. The medication is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects include urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, dehydration, and increased risk of ketoacidosis. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal impairment, or end-stage renal disease. Dose adjustment may be necessary in renal impairment. Patients should be monitored for signs of volume depletion and renal function during therapy. Jarbis 25 should be used cautiously in patients with risk factors for hypotension or electrolyte imbalance. As with all antidiabetic therapies, adherence to lifestyle modifications remains essential for optimal outcomes.
