Jankey M 500 Tablet PR is a combination oral hypoglycemic agent containing Sitagliptin 50 mg and Metformin 500 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances the incretin system by increasing levels of active glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), thereby improving glycemic control through increased insulin release and decreased glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by reducing hepatic glucose production, enhancing peripheral glucose uptake, and improving insulin sensitivity. The combination of these agents provides complementary mechanisms to achieve better glycemic control than either agent alone.
