It is indicated for the treatment of various fungal infections including blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, aspergillosis, and onychomycosis, as well as other systemic and superficial mycoses caused by susceptible fungi. Itraconazole exerts its antifungal effect by inhibiting the cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme lanosterol 14-α-demethylase, which is essential for ergosterol synthesis, a critical component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption leads to increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. Itzhh 200 Capsule is administered orally, with absorption enhanced when taken with food. The dosage and duration of therapy depend on the type and severity of infection, as well as patient response. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, and rash, while rare but serious effects may involve hepatotoxicity and cardiac issues such as congestive heart failure. Caution is advised in patients with liver impairment or cardiac disease.
