About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Itrostred Gel contains Itraconazole 1% w/w, a broad-spectrum triazole antifungal agent effective against a variety of dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds. Itrostred Gel is indicated for the topical treatment of superficial fungal infections such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and candidiasis of the skin. The active ingredient, itraconazole, inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a critical component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. The gel formulation allows for enhanced penetration into the stratum corneum, ensuring targeted antifungal activity at the site of infection. Itrostred Gel is generally well tolerated; however, local adverse reactions such as mild burning, itching, or erythema may occur. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to itraconazole or any excipients in the formulation. Caution is advised when applying near mucous membranes or broken skin. The gel should be applied once or twice daily to the affected area after cleansing and drying the skin, with treatment duration typically ranging from 2 to 4 weeks depending on the severity and type of infection. Patients should be advised to complete the full course to prevent recurrence. Itrostred Gel offers an effective topical option for managing superficial fungal infections with minimal systemic exposure.
