Itromed TF Cream is a topical antifungal formulation containing Itraconazole 1% w/w and Terbinafine 1% w/w, designed for the treatment of various superficial fungal infections. Itraconazole, a triazole antifungal agent, exerts its effect by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. Terbinafine, an allylamine antifungal, acts by inhibiting squalene epoxidase, another key enzyme in ergosterol biosynthesis, resulting in accumulation of toxic squalene levels within fungal cells. The combination of these two agents provides a broad-spectrum antifungal activity against dermatophytes, yeasts, and other pathogenic fungi, enhancing therapeutic efficacy and reducing the potential for resistance development. Itromed TF Cream is indicated for the treatment of dermatophytosis, candidiasis, and other superficial mycoses affecting the skin, such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and tinea pedis. The cream should be applied topically to the affected area once or twice daily as prescribed, with the duration of therapy depending on the severity and type of infection. It is generally well tolerated; however, local irritation or hypersensitivity reactions may occur. Patients should avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes during application.
