IT-Fic 200 Tablet contains Itraconazole 200 mg, a broad-spectrum triazole antifungal agent indicated for the treatment of various systemic and superficial fungal infections. Itraconazole exerts its antifungal activity by inhibiting the cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme lanosterol 14-α-demethylase, which is essential for the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol, a critical component of fungal cell membranes. Disruption of ergosterol synthesis leads to increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. IT-Fic 200 is effective against infections caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds, including but not limited to onychomycosis, blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, aspergillosis, and candidiasis. The tablet formulation ensures convenient oral administration with good bioavailability when taken with food. Dosage and duration of therapy should be individualized based on the type and severity of infection, patient response, and clinical judgment. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment, and monitoring liver function tests during prolonged therapy is recommended. Potential drug interactions exist due to itraconazole’s inhibition of cytochrome P450 enzymes; therefore, concomitant use with certain medications should be carefully evaluated.
