About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Intagesic-P Tablet is a combination analgesic and anti-inflammatory medication containing Diclofenac 50 mg and Paracetamol 325 mg. Diclofenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), exerts its effect by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), leading to decreased synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for pain, inflammation, and fever. Paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen, provides analgesic and antipyretic effects primarily through central inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, complementing the peripheral action of diclofenac. This combination is indicated for the management of mild to moderate pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, dental pain, postoperative pain, and dysmenorrhea. Intagesic-P offers enhanced pain relief by targeting multiple pathways involved in nociception and inflammation. The tablet should be administered orally, typically every 6 to 8 hours, with dosage adjustments based on clinical response and patient tolerance. Caution is advised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers, bleeding disorders, hepatic or renal impairment, and cardiovascular disease. It is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to NSAIDs or paracetamol. Concomitant use with other NSAIDs or hepatotoxic drugs should be avoided to minimize adverse effects. Monitoring for gastrointestinal discomfort, liver function, and renal parameters is recommended during prolonged therapy.
