About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Impurose F 160mg/20mg Tablet is a combination lipid-lowering agent containing Fenofibrate 160mg and Rosuvastatin 20mg, indicated for the management of dyslipidemia and mixed hyperlipidemia. Fenofibrate, a fibric acid derivative, primarily reduces triglyceride levels and increases high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), which enhances lipolysis and elimination of triglyceride-rich particles. Rosuvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, effectively lowers low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and total cholesterol by inhibiting the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, thereby reducing cardiovascular risk. The combination therapy is particularly beneficial in patients who require simultaneous reduction of LDL-C and triglycerides or who have mixed dyslipidemia unresponsive to monotherapy. Impurose F should be used as an adjunct to diet and lifestyle modifications including exercise, weight control, and smoking cessation. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and regular monitoring of liver enzymes, renal function, and lipid profile is recommended. Potential adverse effects include myopathy, elevated liver enzymes, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Contraindications include active liver disease, pregnancy, and hypersensitivity to components.

About Rosuvastatin

Rosuvastatin is a statin used to lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. It works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, a key enzyme in cholesterol synthesis. This medication is crucial for managing dyslipidemia. In summary, Rosuvastatin is effective in lowering cholesterol levels and preventing heart disease.

How It Works

Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, decreasing cholesterol synthesis in the liver and increasing LDL receptor expression.
