About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Impurose F 160mg/10mg Tablet is a combination lipid-lowering medication containing Fenofibrate 160mg and Rosuvastatin 10mg, indicated for the management of dyslipidemia and mixed hyperlipidemia. Fenofibrate, a fibric acid derivative, primarily reduces triglyceride levels and increases high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), which enhances lipolysis and elimination of triglyceride-rich particles. Rosuvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, decreases low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and total cholesterol by inhibiting the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, thereby reducing cardiovascular risk. The combination therapy is beneficial for patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy or those with mixed dyslipidemia requiring simultaneous reduction of LDL-C and triglycerides. Impurose F should be administered orally once daily, preferably with food to enhance absorption. It is contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, severe renal impairment, or hypersensitivity to either component. Caution is advised in patients with a history of myopathy or those on concomitant medications that increase the risk of muscle toxicity. Regular monitoring of lipid profiles, liver function tests, and creatine kinase levels is recommended to ensure efficacy and safety during treatment.

About Rosuvastatin

Rosuvastatin is a statin used to lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. It works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, a key enzyme in cholesterol synthesis. This medication is crucial for managing dyslipidemia. In summary, Rosuvastatin is effective in lowering cholesterol levels and preventing heart disease.

How It Works

Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, decreasing cholesterol synthesis in the liver and increasing LDL receptor expression.
