Imidot Injection is a sterile, intravenous formulation containing a combination of Imipenem 500 mg and Cilastatin 500 mg, designed for the treatment of serious bacterial infections. Imipenem is a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic pathogens. Cilastatin, a specific inhibitor of renal dehydropeptidase I, prevents the enzymatic degradation of Imipenem in the kidneys, thereby enhancing its bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy. Imidot Injection is indicated for complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bacterial septicemia, and lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is particularly valuable in treating infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria. Administration is typically via intravenous infusion over 20 to 30 minutes, with dosing adjusted according to the severity of infection, renal function, and patient-specific factors. Adverse reactions may include gastrointestinal disturbances, hypersensitivity reactions, and transient elevations in liver enzymes.
