Ildomex-TM Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing S-Amlodipine 2.5 mg and Telmisartan 40 mg. S-Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, acts by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance, thereby lowering blood pressure. Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively antagonizes the AT1 receptor, preventing the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, contributing to sustained blood pressure reduction. The synergistic action of these two agents provides effective management of hypertension, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal complications. Ildomex-TM is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in patients who require combination therapy to achieve target blood pressure levels. It may be used as initial therapy or in patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy. The combination is generally well tolerated; common adverse effects include dizziness, headache, peripheral edema, and fatigue. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy.
