About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Ibtel-CT 40 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which results in vasodilation and reduction of blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that promotes sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, contributing to decreased blood volume and peripheral resistance. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides effective management of hypertension, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. Ibtel-CT 40 is indicated for patients who require combination therapy to achieve adequate blood pressure control. It should be used with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, electrolyte imbalances, or gout. Monitoring of serum electrolytes, renal function, and blood pressure is recommended during therapy. Common side effects may include dizziness, hypotension, electrolyte disturbances, and increased urination. This medication should be taken as prescribed by a healthcare professional to optimize therapeutic outcomes and minimize adverse effects.
